January

Australia Day Event: 26 January 2024

The Australia Day ceremony, flag raising and citizenship ceremonies will be undertaken at the Showgrounds. Apex will be running its Big Breakfast and the popular ‘passport’ system – that encourages the community to have conversations with groups would also be back. Watch this space for more information as plans develop.

Bunya Dreaming: 27 January, 2024

This event offers event a family friendly day out that celebrates and honours the significance of the iconic Bunya in First Nations culture. Hold at Ewan Maddock Dam, Steve Irwin Way, Landsborough. 11am to sundown.

March

Maleny Film Festival: 22-24 March, 2024

The Maleny Film Society’s annual Australian Film Festival is held  each year at the Maleny Community Centre in Maple Street. The link to the Maleny Film Society provides information about fortnightly screenings and special events.

April

Sunshine Coast Ukulele Festival: 24-26 May, 2024

Come and enjoy individual artists and groups when Sunshine Coast Ukulele Masters presents this festival at the Kenilworth Showgrounds in 2024.

Anzac Day Services: 25 April annually

ANZAC Day Commemorative Services are held each year on 25 April. The link to the website of the RSL Maleny Sub Branch will provides times and locations of services.

May

Maleny Quota Quilt Show: TBA 2024

Quilts are displayed from the many talented Hinterland quilting groups, and merchants tempt you with their wonderful fabrics and notions. Held at Maleny State High School in Bunya Street.

Maleny Arts and Crafts Group Autumn Fair:
Friday 3 May – Monday 6 May, 2024

Maleny Wood Expo: Saturday 4 May – Monday 6 May. 2024

Held at the Maleny Showgrounds, the Wood Expo is designed to promote sustainable use of our beautiful native timbers through the work of local and regional wood artisans. The Expo is recognised as one of the best wood shows in Australia.

Maleny Celebration of Books: Thursday 25 – Sunday 28 May, 2023

Celebration of Books Maleny is a boutique community event designed to embrace and inspire all who love books.

Kenilworth ArtsFest: Friday 17-Sunday 19 May, 2024
Enjoy a huge range of exhibitions, competitions and workshops. Artists can enter their paintings in a range of competitions for the chance to win major cash prizes.

Maleny Show:  Friday 31 May – Saturday 1 June, 2024

The Maleny Show Society brings you the Sunshine Coast Hinterland’s premier Agricultural Show.

Kenilworth Quilt and Craft Show: Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 June, 2024
The Kenilworth Quilt and Craft Circle hosts the annual Quilt and Craft Show at Kenilworth Community Hall. Locally made quilts and crafts are displayed.

July

Queensland Garden Expo: 4-5-6 July, 2024

Nambour Showgrounds. This four-day expo is Queensland’s premier gardening event attracting visitors from all over Australia. Some of Australia’s leading gardening experts will take part in four days of lectures, demonstrations, and workshops.

Knitfest: Discontinued

Knitfest is an exciting weekend Yarn & Fibre Arts Festival. See the main street of Maleny come alive with yarnbombing. Enjoy competitions, workshops, guest speakers, trade and market stalls.

Muscle on the Mountain: Sunday 7 July, 2024

A great event held at the Maleny Showgrounds with plenty of vehicles to look at and drool over. A must for car buffs.

The Rangebow Festival: Thursday 1 – Sunday 4 August, 2, 2024

A community-based not-for-profit festival at multiple sites across The Range. Celebrating the creative life and spirit of the range communities with a focus on  diversity, inclusiveness, sustainability and reconciliation.

Kenilworth Show and Rodeo: Saturday 21 September 2024

A great day out for the family – horse events, rodeo, woodchop, chainsaw post ripping events, pavilion exhibits, sideshows, pig racing, laser light show at 7.15pm, bar & band till 10pm. 

Lions Welcome Event: TBA,  2024
This annual event is staged to welcome all newcomers to the Maleny and surrounding communities. Newcomers are given an information pack and have the opportunity to meet other new-comers & locals, local business owners, members of community organisations, local residents, as well as our major sponsors; the Maleny IGA and Sunshine Coast Council.

Maleny Quilt Show: Saturday 28 – Sunday 29 September, 2024
Biennial Event

Hosted by the Maleny Arts and Crafts Group this event is held annually at the Maleny Showgrounds.

Maleny Garden Club Spring Fair: Saturday 5 October, 2024

Gardening on the Edge is a Garden Trail and Garden Market providing an opportunity for locals and visitors to the area to see a number of beautiful gardens at the one time and to attend the Garden Market at the Maleny Showgrounds.

November

Maleny Music Festival:
Friday 8 November – Sunday 9 November, 2024

Held at the Maleny Showgrounds, 13 Maleny Stanley River Rd, Maleny, the weekend Festival Event is filled with many talented musicians, performing arts, market stalls, workshops and chances to try out lots of new experiences.

Maleny Handmade and Artisan Markets – Christmas Fair: TBA 2024
Hosted by the Maleny Arts and Crafts Group this event is held annually in the Maleny Community Centre, Maple Street, Maleny. Come and do your Christmas Shopping early or treat yourself!

Sculpture on the Edge:  
Saturday 23 November – Sunday 1 December, 2024

A renowned annual sculpture competition hosted by Arts Connect Inc at Flaxton Gardens. Artworks include indoor and outdoor sculptures across a variety of media. The 2023 program includes the annual exhibition, workshops, artist talks and special events to create a deeply immersive creative experience.

Woodford Folk Festival:
Friday 27 December, 2024 – Wednesday 1 January, 2025

The Woodford Folk Festival is held annually over six days and six nights. The festival programme features concerts, dances, street theatre, writers’ panels, film festival, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, social dialogue and debate, folk medicine, an entire children’s festival, an environmental programme featuring talks, debates and films, art and craft workshops, circus performances and workshops, late night cabarets, parades and special events.
